BREEAM stand for: Building Research Establishment Environmental
Assessment Method

BREEAM is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment
method for buildings in the UK. BREEAM sets the standard for best
practice in sustainable design and has been widely acknowledged as the
measure to describe a building's environmental performance.

Credits are awarded in nine sustainability categories according to
performance. These credits are then added together to produce a single
overall score on a scale of Pass; Good; Very Good; Excellent; and
Outstanding.  There are two stages to the assessment (design and
construction) with final certification being obtained close to the
completion of the construction stage.

The London Borough of Redbridge requires that the Frenford Youth Club
achieve at least a 'very good' rating within it's BREEAM assessment.
