HISTORY

Frenford 1928 -

The achievement in reaching our 80th anniversary year is remarkable to say the least. I doubt if our founder Jack Carter would have foreseen such longevity or even myself when joining in 1951. Our history is recorded elsewhere but the continuity of Frenfords leadership and officers I suggest has had considerable influence. Hundreds of past and present members have played their part and still continue to do so. The loyalty and support that I have experienced- together with members success in their own family & business life has been a testament to their sustainability and own endeavours. The clubs liaison with its local and national bodies plus on going support from the London Borough of Redbridge has also been a significant factor. The core of our work continues to be for the provision of activities for young people. This includes building relationships with local schools and other community, recreational, leisure & educational organisations.

Our very diverse membership, cultures and faiths continue to produce challenging targets. During our 80 years we have, with much assistance improved our facilities beyond expectations. Currently we are facing our biggest challenge yet with the a further re-location. Plans are finalised and I am confident that when members celebrate our centenary they will be able to reminisce with pride and satisfaction in what has been achieved. Our constitution has stood the test of time and I am confident it will continue to do so. My thanks and gratitude to you all.
